“Spirits of ’76” starts with brief remarks at the Old Ship Meeting House at 10 am, leading to a walk in park-like Hingham Cemetery. Docents will lead small groups to learn about the lives of 35 Hingham Revolutionary War-era “spirits,” on the site of their graves. The event offers an exceptional opportunity to experience Hingham history and how Hingham residents shaped America’s formative years.  Built in 1681, the Old Ship Meeting House is the only surviving 17th-century Puritan meeting house in the United States. The Hingham Cemetery, established in 1672, is the resting place of numerous state and national patriots, statesmen, militia, and townspeople who helped build and shape our country.

This unique tour takes about an hour and a half; it is appropriate for adults and youth age 4th grade and older. We will walk on uneven ground on narrow paths.

Tickets at $25/adult, $10/youth are available at www.hinghamcemetery.org or on site. Please park on street or in lot behind bank on Main Street. Rain date: June 7 at 1:00 pm.
